As of today, I have completed my fourth and final season of high school track & field. It’s been an amazing four years. I’m so grateful for the countless amounts of memories and all the amazing people I’ve had the privilege to train and compete with.
It feels like it was just yesterday that I stepped onto the track for the first time when in reality, that was four years ago. I am done competing for Arcadia. I’m retiring that uniform. I’m having such a hard time processing that. It’s just so hard to believe that something that has dominated my life for so long has come to an end.
So maybe we didn’t run or goal time in the 4x400 relay for CIF… but we’re still the third fastest relay team in school history and managed to medal in every invitational we’ve run at this year. In addition to that, I’m really happy with who I had to honor of being on a team with. Irma, Isabel, Glindy and Kyra - they all proved to be very talented runners and I also loved that we all got ridiculously close this year.
To the rest of the team, good job on such a successful season. To the seniors, go us! We are the only team in the pacific league that has ever become undefeated league champions on all four levels. Not only did we manage to snag that title without ever losing a track meet, we managed to do it for four years! I think we deserve an award for graduating without ever losing a track meet hahaha.
It’s such a bittersweet moment letting go of something like this that you love so much, but it’s time. I’ve had my share of beautiful memories and now it’s time to move on. College life starts in a few months and I’m excited to see what FIU and college track has in store for me!

yo welcome ma nigga. haha just kidding, love you fiona. sucks you couldn’t pole vault anymore. But you must remember, i would have never been in pole vault if it wasn’t for you so thank you for the chance and the experience. its been a great 3 years and i hope i’ll be the first person you visit when you come back.
